Writers Round: Jay Elle, Josh Purgason, Tyler Goforth

  • Pure Life Studios 206 Clark St LaGrange United States (map)

Jay Elle:

is a singer-songwriter currently residing in LaGrange, GA. As rapidly as LaGrange is growing, Jay’s dreams are growing faster. She hopes to someday be a touring recording artist reaching thousands with her music. Growing up, Jay watched her mom perform at church in the choir and praise team. At 18, Jay abandoned her Disney Channel posters and started studying the works of shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, legends such as Johnny Cash, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley, and American sweethearts Taylor Swift, Pat Benatar, Linda Ronstadt, and Joan Jett. Today, Jay says her biggest influences are the bands Paramore and The Pretty Reckless. In the time Jay has been writing, she has released one album under her birth name, a single in 2015, aided harmonies in Josh Purgason’s “Airwaves”, and helped finish writing Hollow Sky’s “The Big Question” and performed that song alongside them at The Masquerade. She also opened for The Jawga Boyz for several shows including Wild Bill’s in Atlanta. From the trials and tribulations that came with a birth defect later leading to amputation and intensely toxic relationships, Jay’s not short of topics to write about and gathers most of her material from her own experiences.

Josh Purgason

is a Singer-Songwriter vibing in the fields of Indie Alt/Rock with a knack for covering diverse genres. He has found past success with a band he formed in 2013, (Thoughts Are Nuclear) that led him to opening for major label acts such as Adelitas Way & Failure Anthem. The beginning of 2017 cultivated a path towards pursuing a solo path: one of which that has kept him consistently booked throughout West GA, Alabama & Atlanta. With 3 singles released, (one of which was ranked #3 of Top 15 Songs Of The Summer by Atlanta's 99X station titled Airwaves) & full album in the works; 2019 is shaping up to be a defining year for an undefined artist.

Tyler Goforth

is a singer/songwriter born in Decatur, GA. His love for guitar started around 3 or 4 years of age, but his passion for songwriting began to grow during his years at the University of Georgia. Tyler’s debut EP, released in February 2017, blends elements of folk and alternative rock and features songs of hope and nostalgia.  His first single, "Forty Miles to Macon,” highlights a road trip he took with his father and uncle to visit his great-grandparents’ final resting place at Riverside Cemetery.  The song received airplay in Atlanta on rock and country radio throughout 2018 and its music video received the award of Best Music Film in the 2017 Macon Film Festival. After completing an acoustic tour of the Southeast, Tyler focused much of his creative energy in 2018 into writing and performing in a full rock band. Tyler Goforth Band is currently playing throughout Georgia in support of their latest single, “Mountains” and 4-song EP released March 9, 2019.
